Background

Swiss company Amberg is a leading company in underground infrastructure, logistic solutions and offers its products/services in 40+ countries. Whether it’s a subway tunnel in London, a hydroelectric plant on the Amazon river, the Gotthard Base Tunnel in Switzerland or a high-speed rail route in China: Construction projects of massive scale are the norm for Amberg. With more than 400 employees worldwide, Amberg provides business activities ranging from interdisciplinary planning processes to specific development of equipment and software.

Challenge

Amberg Group works with several external parties and stakeholders around the world on very complicated projects which involve sophisticated technologies and high security standards. Videoconferencing is a technology that makes working on these projects easier, but Amberg needed a partner that could overcome the barriers with different video endpoints and increase the reliability and overall ease of use.

“Amberg Group uses video with stakeholders around the world to discuss very complicated projects involving sophisticated technologies and
extremely high security standards.”

Deployment

All systems were brought onto Videonor’s cloud – making for fluid interaction between the meeting rooms, desktop units and mobile clients. “Functionality is very rich, in my opinion: Jabber, Cisco, Polycom and other endpoints, web browser, Skype4B (Lync), phone integration… this is exactly what we need nowadays.” , says Daniel Koch – Amberg’s IT Business Manager.

Results

Now, Amberg staff can easily setup videocalls with external contractors, project engineers and other stakeholders around the world, regardless the videoconferencing system they are using. Construction plans (CAD) can now be discussed live and intercultural trust and understanding has improved strongly between all participants. Several team- and boardmeetings now regularly take place between offices all around Europe and Asia take place on a regular basis now – all with Videonor’s world class quality and ease of use.

“No empty promises, only promises if you can deliver, and that’s what you do and what I like!” , says Daniel Koch, IT Business Manager, Amberg Technologies.
